NON JUST SHOPPING:

DISCOVERING THE LAND OF FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA.

Palmanova Outlet Village, which is situated near the A4 Venice-Trieste Highway, lies between Udine, Pordenone, Trieste and Gorizia, and therefore represents an ideal starting point for excursions aimed at discovering the beautiful Friuli land.

There are many places to visit here, one of them surely being the municipality hosting the Palmanova Outlet -Aiello del Friuli. It is a village of Roman origins, situated in the Friuli valley, lavishing with noble aristocratic palaces, but also with bright, colourful houses. Aiello is also known as the "Village of Sundials", given that its numerous sundials serve as a decoration to a number of houses and public buildings and attract streams of tourists.

Near the Outlet, there is the characteristic town of Palmanova: its central position within the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region was noticed and appreciated even at the time of the Republic of Venice which had a real fortified town built there in 1593. In 1960, thanks to its unique nine-pointed star- shape, Palmanova was proclaimed a National Monument. Slightly further to the North, we find the lovely city of Udine, whose well-known Castle built on the characteristic "hill" offers a splendid panoramic view on the entire Friuli Region, from the Carnic and Julian Alps to the sweet Morainic Hills, across the fertile valley and all the way to the Adriatic sea. The Civic Museums, hosted by the city Castle are another must-see, as is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata.

We would also recommend a visit to Gorizia, the Capital of the Eastern Friuli ("Capitâl del Friûl Orientâl"), Trieste - the city of wind and sea, Grado - the sunny island, Lignano Sabbiadoro - the temple of entertainment, etc...

Yet, the Friuli Region has a lot more to offer: from the sea to the mountains, from valleys to cities, a unique land, all to be discovered!
